Tampa's Gasparilla Marathon Course Information

Tampa's Gasparilla Marathon Start is located at Platt Street and Parker Street (adjacent to Publix Super Markets)and finishes on beautiful Bayshore Boulevard; Tampa’s most scenic and picturesque waterfront road.

The flat, fast and mostly waterfront USATF Certified course showcases many of Tampa’s most beautiful and historic neighborhoods including Davis Islands, Downtown Tampa, Riverfront Park, Ballast Point and Bayshore Boulevard.

The Finish Line will remain open for 7-hours (1:00 p.m.). All athletes participating in the Marathon must be able to maintain at least a 16-minute per mile pace throughout the race, finishing the Marathon in less than 7-hours.

Please note that there will be time requirements at two locations of the marathon course.

Those marathon participants not able to maintain a 16-minute per mile pace and complete the Davis Islands portion of the course (first six miles) by 7:45 a.m. will be directed into the half marathon.

Additionally, those marathon participants not able to maintain a 16-minute per mile pace and reach the half-way point (13.1 miles) by 9:30am will be moved to the sidewalk for the remainder of the marathon.

At Noon (6 hours), those remaining on the course will be moved to the Bayshore Boulevard sidewalk. Aid Stations, Clocks, Mile Markers, and the Finish Line will also be moved to the sidewalk.

Please note that the Finish Line (including the ChampionChip system) will remain open until the last marathon participant crosses the Finish Line. The Gasparilla Distance Classic Association board members will be waiting at the Finish Line with Finisher's Medals.

Tampa's Gasparilla Half Marathon Course

Tampa's Gasparilla Half Marathon will utilize the same Start and Finish, and follow the same course as the marathon for the first 6.5-miles. At mile 6.5 (Bayshore Boulevard & Platt Street), the half marathon participants will turn off of Bayshore Boulevard and onto Platt Street going west, Platt to Plant, Plant to Beach and onto Bayshore Boulevard going South for the out and back portion of the course. The turnaround on Bayshore Boulevard will be at Bay Vista.

Tampa's Gasparilla Marathon & Half Marathon Course Clocks/Mile Markers

Digital time clocks and mile markers will be positioned along the Marathon and Half Marathon course at every mile, and at the half-marathon point.

Tampa's Gasparilla Marathon & Half Marathon Aid Stations

There will be one Start and Finish Aid Station and 22-Course Aid Stations set one mile apart beginning at the two-mile mark of the marathon and half marathon.

Aid Stations will supply Zephyrhills Spring Water and Gatorade Endurance Formula (Lemon-Lime Flavor).

Energy Gel will be distributed at the 10 & 22 mile marks.  Orange slices will be available at miels 19, 21 & 24

Medical Support

In the Finish Line Area, Tampa General Hospital will provide a fully equipped Medical Facility staffed with a team of Tampa General Hospital Emergency Room Medical Professionals. Only participants requiring medical assistance will be allowed access to the Medical Facility.

    TGH

Medical Staff will be ready to assist you at all times. Tampa Fire Rescue Paramedics will be stationed along the marathon and half marathon course and will be roving on motorized bicycles and golf carts.

The Medical Staff will have the right to withdraw any runners or walkers from the race who appear in distress or at risk should they continue running.

Safety

For the safety and enjoyment of all event participants, the course(s) are restricted to registered runners and walkers and official race personnel ONLY.

No dogs, no strollers, no baby joggers, no bikes, no in-line skates, no roller skates and no wheeled vehicles will be allowed on-course.

Violators will be disqualified and removed from the course by a Race Official.

For the safety of all, in accordance with RRCA Guidelines (Road Runners Clubs of America) the use of headphones is discouraged.
