The Kellogg's 'Special K' Walk & Stroller Roll will be open exclusively to all 5K walkers of all ages and those runners and walkers wishing to participate while pushing a baby jogger or baby stroller.
After years of not allowing baby joggers or strollers in the 15K or 5K, the Gasparilla Distance Classic Association will encourage Healthy Living for the entire family, and invite families to walk together and parents with little ones to come out, run or walk and enjoy an event created especially for them.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS NOT A RACE, AND THOUGH EACH PARTICIPANT WILL BE TIMED, IT SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED AS A COMPETITIVE EVENT. RACING WITH BABY JOGGERS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. FOR THE SAFETY AND ENJOYMENT OF ALL, ESPECIALLY THE CHILDREN, PLEASE DO NOT ENTER THE 5K WALK & STROLLER ROLL WITH THE INTENT OF ANYTHING OTHER THAN A RELAXING 3.1 MILE WALK OR JOG.
Registration fees will be according to the established 5K fees. Fees for adults and children five years of age and over will be $25 until Friday, January 21, and $30 ONLINE ONLY and on Race Weekend, February 25 & 26.
Registration fees for stroller age children four years of age and under will be $15 until Sunday, January 21 and $20 ONLINE ONLY (until Sunday, February 20, 2011) and on Race Weekend, February 25 & 26.
Stroller age children will all receive the #1 as their Race Number and upon crossing the Finish Line will be presented with their very own Kellogg's 'Special K' 5K Walk & Roll Finisher's Medal. When filling out the 2011 entry form or registering online, parents MUST provide the names and ages of stroller children that will be participating. Only officially registered walkers and stroller adults and children will be allowed in the Kellogg's "Special K" 5K Walk and Stroller Roll Start Area.
PLEASE BE AWARE THAT BABY JOGGERS AND/OR STROLLERS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED IN THE 15K OR HALF MARATHON. |
