Bayshore Boulevard & Verne Street

 Please access the Start lines from the rear and by utilizing the Platt Street Bridge; adjacent to the Franklin Street Entrance of the Tampa Convention Center.

SEEDED MEN & WOMEN ONLY WILL ACCESS THE HALF MARATHON & 5+3K STARTS FROM THE FRONT AND SHOULD UTILIZE THE SEEDED/ELITE ENTRANCE LOCATED ADJACENT TO THE START PLATFORM ON THE NORTH SIDE OF BAYSHORE BOULEVARD.  

PLEASE NOTE THAT WALKERS ARE WELCOME IN THE GASPARILLA HALF MARATHON, BUT BECAUSE OF ROAD CLOSURE PERMITS, A 16-MINUTE PER MILE PACE MUST BE MAINTAINED FOR THE FIRST FIVE MILES (DAVIS ISLANDS PORTION OF COURSE). THOSE NOT ABLE TO COMPLETE THE FIRST FIVE MILES BY 7:20 A.M. (1:20) WILL BE MOVED TO THE DAVIS ISLANDS SIDEWALK UNTIL THEY REACH BAYSHORE BLVD., AT WHICH TIME, THEY WILL BE MOVED BACK ON TO THE ROAD FOR THE REMAINDER OF THEIR HALF MARATHON.

9:00a.m. - 5+3K Start

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE GASPARILLA 5+3K WILL START PROMPTLY AT 9:00AM.  ONCE THE START IS CLEARED AT APPROXIMATELY 9:05AM, IT WILL BE CLOSED.  ONCE THE START IS OFFICIALLY CLOSED, THE TIMING MATS WILL BE PULLED AND RUNNERS/WALKERS ARRIVING LATE WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON COURSE. 

RUNNERS AND WALKERS PARTICIPATING IN THE MICHELOB ULTRA CHALLENGE MUST COMPLETE THE GASPARILLA HALF MARATHON UNDER 2:55 AND ALLOW ENOUGH TIME TO MAKE IT TO THE OFFICIAL START OF THE GASPARILLA 5+3K.

ONLINE REGISTRATION WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 26, 2012, BUT BEGINNING SATURDAY, JANUARY 1, 2012 WILL BE ACCORDING TO THE LATE REGISTRATION ONLINE FEES ($85 - Half Marathon; $30 - 5+3K).

THERE WILL BE NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION FOR THE HALF-MARATHON OR 5+3K.

Tampa's Gasparilla Half Marathon participants that PRE-REGISTER by JANUARY 29, 2012 will be guaranteed an Official 2012 Gasparilla Half Marathon Nike Long Sleeve Dri-Fit Shirt and will receive a Runner Goody Bag, Post-Race Food and Beverages and for those that cross the Finish Line, a 2012 Gasparilla Half Marathon Finisher’s Medal.

Additionally, personalized Finisher's Race Results and a Finisher’s Certificate will be emailed within six weeks (email address must be provided).

Columbia Restaurants "1905" Runner Revive Area - The Columbia Restaurant, based in Tampa's Ybor City and one of Florida’s Top 25 Restaurants since 1967, will greet all Gasparilla Half Marathon Finishers with their signature '1905' Salad, black beans, yellow rice and Cuban Bread.

 

Gasparilla 5+3K participants will receive an Official 2012 Gasparilla 5+3K Nike Dr-Fit T-Shirt, a Runner Goody Bag and for those that cross the Finish Line, Post-Race food and beverages, a colorful 2012 Gasparilla 5+3K Finishers' Medal, a personalized Virtual Finisher's Certificate (a valid email address MUST be provided with registration).

5+3K participants that register online after January 28, 2012, or wait to register during Race Weekend Late Registration will not be guaranteed the correct sized shirt.

Complete Gasparilla Half Marathon & 5+3K Results will be featured in a Special Race Results Section in The Tampa Tribune on Monday, March 5, 2012.

Packet Pick-Up

Tampa's Gasparilla Half Marathon & 5+3K Race Packet, T-shirt, Race Number Pick-Up will take place during the 8 On Your Side Health & Fitness Expo being held in the Tampa Convention Center – East Hall on Friday, March 2, 10 a.m. – 8 p.m., and on Saturday, March 3, beginning at 9:30 a.m. (following Start of 5K) and until 5 p.m.

For late out-of-town arrivals ONLY, there will be very limited Packet Pick-Up on Race Day, Sunday, March 4. Requests for Race Day Packet Pick-up must be made in writing and no later than Sunday, February 26, 2012.

If you are not able to attend the Expo and pick-up your Race Number, a Race Number Pick-Up Authorization Form must be completed, signed and presented by whomever WILL be picking up for you.  A downloadable version of the Authorization Form can be found below.

ChronoTrack Timing

The Gasparilla Distance Classic Association is once again proud to lead the pack in offering to its runners and walkers the latest in timing technology.

In 2012, race participants will be timed utilizing the ChronoTrack B-Tag Timing & Tracking System developed and designed with RFID – radio frequency identification. Much like the ChampionChip Timing System when it was introduced, the ChronoTrack Timing & Tracking System will dramatically improve overall efficiency and the participant’s experience.

Here’s how it works. The technology is woven into two tags that will be placed on the back of each runner’s bib/race number. That's all there is to it. The runner will not be required to affix the Timing Tag to their shoe.

Transponder Pads at the Start, Finish and along the race course will record the participant’s time at each location in preparation for Race Day Results. Post-Race, each participant will receive both their Start Time and Chip Time, as well as any splits that were recorded.

At the Finish Line, there will be no back-ups...runners and walkers will cross the Finish Line…revel in what they’ve just accomplished…be given their Finisher’s Medal and then head to the Q105 Post-Race Celebration!
